CLAS Faculty Earn College Awards For Teaching Excellence

For their exceptional teaching and student engagement, Paola Lopez-Duarte, Samantha Suptela and Lennin Caro have received the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences’ 2023 Excellence in Teaching Awards. Six other faculty were honored as finalists for three awards.

UNC Charlotte’s Master of Science in Mathematical Finance program has once again been named among the top-ranked programs in the nation, ranking No. 12 in the TFE Times’ 2021 Master of Financial Engineering program rankings. Tonya Bates of Biological Sciences Receives Teaching Excellence Award

Tonya Bates, a senior lecturer in the Department of Biological Sciences, is the 2020 recipient of the UNC Charlotte Award for Teaching Excellence. She and Bank of America Award for Teaching Excellence recipient Heather Coffey of the Cato College of Education were honored during a virtual ceremony Thursday, Sept. 17.
